Hi and welcome to my site!  I am a wildlife and pet portrait artist based in Hertfordshire, England, working predominantly in pastel.

I graduated in 2008 with a degree in Fine Art, and then went on to work at Madame Tussauds as a wax figure painter. It was whilst working here that I discovered my love of realism and detail.

I have always had a passion for wildlife and art, and love being able to capture the little individual quirks and personality of each animal, drawing your eye in to characteristics which might sometimes be overlooked.

I find pastel pencils work well to achieve a high level of detail, with many delicate layers going into each portrait.

I have exhibited at the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation 'Wildlife Artist of the Year' exhibition, and with The Federation of British Artists as part of their 60th anniversary figurative art exhibition.  I am also a member of The Society of Animal Artists.

If you are interested in commissioning either a pet portrait or wildlife piece then please e-mail me at clareparkesportraits@gmail.com, or use the contact page.
