I am currently based in Hertfordshire in the UK and create my pet portraits on a commission basis for clients all across the world.  I specialise in highly realistic pastel portraits that capture the true likeness of your beloved companion.

To start the process I like to find out as much as possible about the personality of your pet so this can really be brought to life in the drawing.  Once I feel I have a clear idea of your pets character we can choose the best photo from which to draw your portrait. Choosing the right photo is essential in allowing me to render a portrait that really allows your pets spirit to shine through. It is really important that the photo is as high a resolution as possible so I can see all of the little details, the better the photo, the better the portrait. If you are able to take photo's yourself for this then natural lighting is ideal, by a window or outside without direct sunlight. Eyes are an incredibly important part of a portrait and I need to be able to see these clearly so I can capture the best possibly likeness of your beloved companion. Of course if your pet has sadly passed and your photos don't meet the requirements then I'll endeavour to work with what you have.

Here is an example of an ideal reference photo:

Throughout the process I will send you progress photos so you can let me know if the portrait is how you envisaged.  Once the drawing is finished I will take a number of photos and e-mail you for the final approval, if any changes are needed then I'll work closely with you to fix these.

It's helpful when deciding on size to envisage where the portrait will hang, as the setting will have a large bearing on what size will be best suited to you. Larger sizes enable me to achieve more detail and result in a more photo realistic looking portrait, smaller sizes work well in a smaller, more intimate setting such as an entrance hallway.

The sizes above are for a head and shoulders portrait on plain paper, without a background.  I work exclusively on Clairefontaine Pastelmat and this comes in a range of colours so we can decide which one would suit your portrait based on the reference photo. If you would like a background included then I'll provide a quote based on how detailed this is.

I require a £20 deposit to secure your place on the waiting list, with the remainder to be paid when you have approved the final photograph I'll send of your drawing.

If you'd like a size not listed above, or would like to include more than three pets than please contact me for a quote.

I post my portraits within the UK and internationally and always take great care and pride in packaging all pieces of artwork.  My portraits are sent in a sleek, black presentation box and the drawing will be protected with a sheet of glassine paper. I offer free mounts, which can be chosen as a perfect finishing touch when you are happy with the final drawing.
